Windows XP

As you may already know, on April 8, 2014 Microsoft will stop issuing security updates to Windows XP. This means that after April 8, 2014 there will be a substantial security risk to anyone using this operating system, since security vulnerabilities will no longer be patched. If you are currently using Windows XP please take note of this.

Although this will not cause an interruption to any of the services we provide our customers, continued use of a computer utilizing Windows XP could place your devices and the information on them at serious risk. We encourage you to learn more about this upcoming cessation of service by Microsoft and to become informed on what you will need to do to secure your information.

News to account holders regarding the Target breach!

As you may have heard, major retailer Target is in the news for a nationwide data breach involving more than 40 million accounts affecting debit and credit cards used in Target stores between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15 (Target.com was not affected). Citizens Bank & Trust stands ready to support you in the event of any suspicious account activity. While we are still assessing any possible impact of this breach, we have not confirmed any to date, here are a few things you can do now to protect your account:

�Monitor Account: Be sure to check your account frequently over the next few months for suspicious charges.

�Report Immediately: If you do identify anything suspicious, report it to us at 800.634.6203 or by email at ebankhelp@ebankcbt.com  so we can take action.

�Approach Emails with Caution: Beware of any emails requesting personal or account information, even if claiming to be a precaution related this breach. Citizens Bank & Trust will never ask you for any information such as a social security number or PIN through email. 

�Zero Liability Policy: Citizens Bank & Trust utilizes Visa as our merchant card provider for debit cards. Visa has a zero liability policy on fraudulent transactions to protect cardholders. Citizens Bank & Trust sends out 2014 updated disclosures!

All of our deposit customers should have received a packet in the mail or email including several items regarding account changes, or regulation E notices. These notices were sent out November 29th through December 6th.

NOTICE OF EXPIRATION OF THE TEMPORARY FULL FDIC INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR NONINTEREST-BEARING TRANSACTION ACCOUNTS

By operation of federal law, beginning January 1, 2013, funds deposited in a noninterest-bearing transaction account (including an Interest on Lawyer Trust Account) no longer will receive unlimited deposit insurance coverage by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Beginning January 1, 2013, all of a depositor's accounts at an insured depository institution, including all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts, will be insured by the FDIC up to the standard maximum deposit insurance amount ($250,000), for each deposit insurance ownership category.

Citizens Bank & Trust announces new Board Members.

Don O. Walsworth,  Jr. and James L. Gegg, both of Leawood, KS, have joined the Board of Directors of Citizens Bank & Trust, bringing additional financial expertise and leadership to the current Board of Directors.  

Roger Arwood, CEO, said, “We feel the addition of these two skillful directors will not only strengthen our Board of Directors, but will enable us to leverage their knowledge of metropolitan Kansas City to help our future growth plans.”  Walsworth brings with him vast experiences from Walsworth Publishing, a publisher and printer of commercial books, catalogues, magazines and yearbooks, where he serves as President.  Gegg brings a thirty-year career in public accounting as a retired managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. 

The new directors join a board made up of Don Walsworth Sr., Chairman, David Neal, Barry Orscheln, Gene Millard, Ed Douglas, Pat Thorne, Bill Young, President, and Roger Arwood, CEO.  Members of Citizens Bank & Trust’s executive leadership are Roger Arwood, CEO, Bill Young, President, Jon Appleby, CFO, Carrie Almond, Bill Dippel and Steve Nepote.

Citizens Bank donates to Backpack Buddies

The Backpack Buddies Program at the Grand River Area Family YMCA was the focus of the third quarter "Jeans Day" fundraiser at Citizens Bank & Trust. Program Director Sally Peterson visited the bank Friday morning (Oct. 5), to pick up the $725 collected from employees who chose to wear jeans on Fridays over the past 12 weeks. Backpack Buddies provides weekend meals for youth in the Chillicothe area who otherwise might go without. Among those in the picture with Peterson are Citizens Bank & Trust President Bill Young, Vice President and branch manager Nicki Barnes, and Jeans Day bank coordinator Laura Bailey.

Secure Tokens ensure online Treasury Management safety

Citizens Bank & Trust is among the first community banks to roll out the IronPort Security Program, a hardware-based solution to prevent unauthorized access to online banking systems. The IronPort token, comparable to a key fob, contains a database that is continually updated through the day. Without access to the code, a user is unable to log into the Treasury Management system to originate outbound transactions. (Kansas City, MO) The Comets Major Indoor Soccer League team announced today a three-year partnership agreement with Citizens Bank and Trust. eStatement- unclutter your mailbox and your life

Enrolling is easy by logging into ebank, selecting Account Options, then eStatement. Check the accounts for which you want to stop paper statements and respond to the confirmation e-mail sent to the address you choose.

Prevent ebankCBT Lockouts with Password Assistance

The frustration of locking out of ebank and waiting to be unlocked goes away once you set up the Password Assistance option. Log in and go to Account Options to establish the ability to unlock yourself.

ebankCBT ID and password security are always a concern and this system means our users should depend less on Windows to retain sensitive login information. If you currently allow Windows to remember your login information, we strongly recommend you set up the Password Assistance option and disable Windows’ ability to remember your ID and password.

ebankCBT e-mail Alerts Go Online

ebankCBT users have a  convenient tool to manage accounts. You may choose to receive alerts when your balance goes above or below an amount you specify, you receive an electronic debit or credit, a certain check arrives, or even remind yourself of an important event such as a deadline, anniversary or other important items.

This free service is available to all ebankCBT users by logging in and going to Account Options/Alerts. To ensure your alerts arrive, confirm the correct e-mail address is on file and that your spam filter accepts messages from ebankhelp “at” ebankCBT.com.

Phishing Remains a Concern

Regular ebank users already know phishing through e-mail have been a headache for years. These fraudulent attempts to trick users into giving out sensitive information like debit card numbers and PINs, Social Security Numbers, and even account numbers are continually revised to trick the unwary.

You may be certain Citizens Bank & Trust will never send you an e-mail asking for this information because — you guessed it — we already have it. Don’t fall for messages from “Citizens Bank,” either. We are “Citizens Bank & Trust,” since 1889.

To protect you even further, if we receive an e-mail message that does not match the address we have on file for a customer, we will ask for proof of identity before proceeding further. If you change your e-mail address, be sure to update your address the next time you log in by going to Account Options
